Happy Birthday, Mr Clarke!

Monolith

Today Arthur C. Clarke turns 90. He is one of the greatest science fiction writers of the last century, as well as the one who suggested geostationary communications satellites (that’s science, not fiction). Happy Birthday!

P.S.: for whoever doesn’t know who Arthur C. Clarke is (shame on you!), titles like 2001: A Space Odyssey or Rendezvous with Rama may be a suggested reading :-)

Oh my God - Kaiser Chiefs

I was driving today and I happened to listen again to this Kaiser Chiefs’ song. Immediately this picture came to my mind, as I had the song on my iPod on my first trip to New York and the lyrics “Oh my God I can’t believe it - I’ve never been this far away from home” fitted perfectly how I felt looking at Downtown Manhattan from the 41st floor of the Empire State Building :-)

Downtown Manhattan

The second thought I had, this morning, has been about a friend and colleague that moved to New York last summer. As he writes in his blog (mainly in Italian), sometimes you can feel “lonely” at being somehow out of touch with family and friends. Hey man, as the song says, I’m sure you’ll “come back stronger than a powered up Pac-Man” (if you decide to come back at all ;-) ) !

Share the loo with your cat

Cat toilet

OK, so the toilet seems to be the topic of the week, because after the find-me-a-loo SatLav service in London here we are with a new, exciting breakthrough: the CatLav.

Yes, you read it right. It’s a kit to train your cat to use your own toilet, it comes from Canberra and its name is Litter Kwitter.

I wonder what we’re gonna see by the end of the week! Shall the cat get a mobile phone for when it’s travelling to London? :-D
