This funny (but serious) animation by the great Bruno Bozzetto pretty much sums up why I’m so often fed up with Italians… :-)

The Master and Margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov

Well, how to start a comment on this book?

Мастер и Маргарита is visionary, dreamlike, with a pronounced taste for the theatrical. The story spreads over several layers and encloses more stories, that entangle in unexpected ways.

It’s also a merciless and irreverent criticism of Russian society, from vain literary circles to the underground fights for an apartment, from the ubiquitous but useless police to the spy responsible for monitoring foreigners. The Devil himself takes part in messing everything up…

Thanks to Martina (my consultant for Russian literature :-) ) that recommended it to me!

PyCon Due

Last weekend I attended the 2008 edition of PyCon, the Italian Python Conference held in Florence. This second edition has been organized after the positive experience of last year’s first edition. A few logistic glitches couldn’t really cast a shadow on this successful event named PyCon Due, that confirmed a growing both in interest in the Python programming language and in the vitality of its Italian community.

The talk that really caught me most has been Do you believe in the users? by Brian Fitzpatrick, also due to his really brilliant style :-D
