46664 Concert in Hyde Park

Last night, at least, the main event (or excuse ;-) ) for my being in London took place!

The 46664 Concert in Hyde Park has been organized as a charity event, to raise funds and spread awareness on the HIV issue in Africa. It was also meant to celebrate the forthcoming 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela, 20 years after the great concert in Wembley Stadium held to ask for Mandel to be set free. The man spent 27 years in prison for his political views, and 46664 was his identification number.

I have to say that to hear this man speak still takes your breath away…

What about the music? The atmosphere was great, and what can I say for example of the closing act, Queen + Paul Rodgers? They ROCK!!

Roadhouse: a night out in Covent Garden

Last night I met with a friend currently living in London, and she led me to a few nice places in the Covent Garden area.

We started with a quite chat in a pub, as we haven’t seen each other for almost 18 months. After the pub see brought me to the Roadhouse, a lively place featuring bands playing live every night.

The Electric Mayem were playing the stage, and I couldn’t believe how good they are. Songs from Greenday, The Fratellis, Queen and many more. In Italy the could play wherever they wanted, and this reminded me that this city has always been (and still is) quite a place for music.

Thanks to Sambo for leading me there! :-)

It exists. I’m not making this up. It exists and I’ve been into it. Unbelievable. :-)
