American Splendor

Yet another Cineforum night, last night, with a very peculiar movie, American Splendor.

Try to imagine a documentary about the life of Harvey Pekar, a guy who became famous for writing comics about his life. You get the guy as a comics character, or to be right you get many versions of him, depending on the illustrator. Then you get the actor playing the guy. And sometimes you get the guy himself, playing himself as the documentary is shot and also giving the voice to the actor.

Still not confused enough? Ok, so imagine the same thing happening for almost all the characters in the movie. Or in the comics. Or in real life. Doesn’t matter, because each one is everywhere.

Absolutely wonderful. :-)
