John Michael Crichton, well known for his books, movies and TV series, died yesterday. I’d like to really thank him for many of his works I truly enjoyed…

Books like The Andromeda Strain, The Great Train Robbery, Sphere, Jurassic Park, Rising Sun, Disclosure, The Lost World, Timeline

Movies and TV series like Westworld and ER

Thanks.

Quote of the Day (it’s still here to annoy you)

I’m thick. I’m as thick as the big print version of the Complete Works of Charles Dickens.

Not going to write who I am quoting, so if you can guess… let me know!

Holistic detective’s cases may be surprising

Lesser known than the Hitchhiker’s saga, the weird activities of the holistic detective Dirk Gently are something to read. Douglas Adams’ linguistic style and surreal situations at their best, and many times I found myself unable to stop laughing while reading Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul.

But what makes a detective “holistic”? To a potential client asking that same question, Mr. Gently explains that he “operates on the base of the fundamental interconnectedness of all things”. This also explains, in his view, why items like a new fridge or a trip to the Caribbean may end up in the bill he presents to his clients. And, as surprising as it may seem, those expenses may really prove relevant to the case, in the end… :-D
